WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - You know what makes Wilmington really special and unique? We like to say it's the people, or our town has Southern charm, and of course there's always the proximity to the ocean.
All nice things – but if you believe in humanity, people are special wherever you go. We do have Southern charm, but so do a lot of cities in the south. And the Atlantic Ocean is something we share with the entire Eastern Seaboard.
What I think makes this town unique is how our past has become a part of our present, and one of the jewels in this crown is Thalian Hall. Few other towns have anything like it.
In the last several months workers have been restoring this grand theatre. They've put in new seating, new lights and a state-of-the-art sound system. They restored the paint and a beautiful 19th century style chandelier now hangs in the lobby.
What they've accomplished with all this is to make sure Thalian Hall is not just part of our past and present, but it will also be part of our future as well.
Tony Rivenbark and his supporting cast members responsible for doing this deserve a curtain call and a standing ovation.
