ELIZABETH TOWN, NC (WECT) - The State Board Elections has launched a formal investigation into vote buying allegations in Bladen County.

Larry Hammond, the director of the Bladen County Board of Elections, said he received a phone call from the state Thursday informing him of the investigation.

"They wouldn't say who filed the formal complaint or what races the allegations pertained to," said Hammond.  "We've surmised that it does deal with Tuesday's Primary. As for now we are just going to about our business as planned."

Almost every election has some allegations of corruption, but formal complaints are rarely filed.
