Residents of four New Hanover County neighborhoods may have gotten their water back Thursday night, but it is still not safe to drink.
County officials have issued a boil water notice for residents of the Kings Grant, Kings Grant Extension, Wildflower and Crestwood areas. This after water and sewer crews severed a 12 inch water main Thursday morning.
It left about 1,800 people without water. Around 3:00 Thursday afternoon, crews were able to repair the broken valves and restore the water, but not before creating some serious headaches.
County officials have sent a sample of the water off for tests. The results are expected Friday afternoon at the earliest. Until then, water in the area is considered unsafe for drinking.
