KERNERSVILLE, NC (AP) - Authorities say they won't file charges against two boys who sent text messages to a North Carolina girl less than a week before she hanged herself.
The Winston-Salem Journal reported that police in Kernersville say no crime was involved in the death of Ashley Rogers, who died April 14. Police Chief Ken Gamble says detectives turned over the findings of their investigation Monday to the Forsyth County district attorney.
The 15-year-old Rogers hanged herself in her home. Her parents have said they don't blame the boys who sent the messages to their daughter.
Christine Rogers says her daughter was undergoing counseling for depression.
Gamble says the text messages didn't violate the state's cyber-bullying law, which prohibits using a computer to intimidate, harass or torment a minor.
