WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) -- Thursday's high temperature of 85 degrees was the warmest so far of 2010. That was the official reading at the Wilmington International Airport.
And if it feels like it has been a while since we've seen temperatures that warm, it has been! The 85 degree reading was the first 80 degree high of 2010 and the first since November 1, 2009.
It's been nearly 6 months since we've been this warm. In fact the warmest temperature since October 10th, 2009 when the high was 89 degrees. That was nearly 6 months ago. That's 172 days for those of you who've been counting.
Normal high temperatures for the first day of April are around 70 degrees. Highs near 84 are something this area would normally see at the start of June.
And don't expect the warm temperatures and sunshine to stop anytime soon. The holiday weekend will see highs near 80, with overnight lows also quite mild, in the upper 50s.
