BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) - There is officially competition in Brunswick County surrounding who will be the county's sheriff.
Incumbent John Ingram filed Wednesday to hold onto his office. Ingram was appointed as sheriff in 2008 after Ronald Hewett resigned.
He says he's helped turn the office around in a positive way over the last two years.
"I'm very excited about the progress that we've made since I've been in office," said Ingram. "Not only the men and women of the sheriff's office but the community working with us through very difficult times being able to turn the sheriff's office around, moving in a positive direction that all of us can be proud of."
Timothy "Salt" Daniels filed for the office as a Republican earlier this month.
The deadline to file is Friday, Feb. 26. Click here to see who has filed in Brunswick County.
