Rex Gore wants a 6th term

LELAND, NC (WECT) - Rex Gore has announced that he will run for re-election.

As District Attorney for the 13th district Gore is in charge of prosecuting all criminal cases in Bladen, Brunswick and Columbus Counties. He has held the job since 1991.

"There are projects and cases I want to see to completion and programs I want to make sure are continued." Gore said in a press release. " I believe my years of experience are vital to doing that." Gore sighted a list of goals as helping establish anti-gang laws, expanding DWI court, and cracking on people who write worthless checks.

Four years ago Gore was challenged in an election for the first time. Jon David, the twin brother of District Attorney Ben David, received more votes than Gore in both Bladen and Columbus Counties. Gore's popularity in Brunswick county is what guaranteed his re-election.

Jon David has yet to publicly announce if he will challenge Gore again.
