(United Nations-AP) -- Iraq is lodging a war protest with the United Nations. Iraq's U.N. ambassador Mohammed Al-Douri says the U.S. attack on his country is a violation of international law. But there is no indication that any of the Security Council members plan to support any formal criticism of the U.S. Instead, they're focusing on what role the U.N should play in Iraq after a war. Secretary General Kofi Annan says that's going to have to include massive aid to avoid what he says would be a disaster for Iraq's people. For now, Annan says the war leaves him disappointed and "deeply alarmed." That's a sentiment shared by a number of council members. France's foreign minister repeats his contention that the war is illegal -- and will only worsen the tensions and divisions that feed terrorists.
