Brunswick County vet to run for state senate

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT)- Another Republican has joined the race to fill RC Soles Senate seat.

Brunswick County veterinarian Bill Rabon announced on Wednesday that he will file for the District 8 seat in the North Carolina Senate. Rabon, 58, a Partner in Southport Animal Hospital and Brunswick Animal Hospital and Oak Island Animal Hospital.

"As a State Senator, my number one priority will be to create good jobs for the people of Brunswick, Columbus and Pender counties," Rabon said. "I have worked hard in my business career to create good jobs for local people, and I know what it takes to recruit good jobs to our area."

Rabon is also the Vice Chairman of the Brunswick Community College Board of Trustees. He was appointed by Governor Jim Martin as Chairman of the Cape Fear Pilotage and Navigation Committee, and he served for seven years in that capacity.

Betty Fennell, who was the Republican nominee against Soles 2 years ago, has already announced that she will file next month to run for the seat again.
