PENDER COUNTY, NC (WECT) - Free access street maps are becoming more popular as Pender County continues to grow.
The county's public works director Paul Rarker said many residents and tourists are finding the maps to be quite helpful.
He also said sheriff's deputies and emergency workers use the maps when they respond to 911 calls.
"It's a big deal for Pender County because the maps are something that the county employees and county department heads needed," said Parker. "It seemed like every time a developer or an engineering firm came through the county they wanted to know any place in the county, and we didn't have anything to give them to show them any locations in the county."
County officials say they plan to update the maps once a year.
