WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - The race for two seats on the New Hanover County Commission got a little bigger Tuesday, as another candidate filed to create a campaign committee.
Jason C. Harris, who works with various community and non-profit boards in the region, filed to set up his campaign Tuesday.
In a news release, Harris said he supports fiscal restraint, budget measures that would make New Hanover County profitable and a higher standard of living for all. Harris also said he supports a well-funded sheriff's department.
Harris joins several others in the race for two open seats on the New Hanover County Commission. Current Commissioner Bill Caster has said he'll run for re-election, along with Deborah Butler, Napier Fuller, Rick Catlin, Charles Dorman and Dale Smith.
Long-time commissioner Bobby Greer is not expected to run for re-election.
The actual filing period to run for office opens on February 8th.
