WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Nearly a week after the devastating earthquake in Haiti the death toll continues to rise, but more help is needed for those who survived.
People across the globe are contributing food and money to the cause, but one Wilmington church is using the power of prayer.
People from various churches across the area gathered Monday evening at Lifepoint Church to raise up their hands and praise God.
They were praying for a miracle - something that would help the thousands of innocent victims of a deadly earthquake.
Creative Arts Pastor Brad Barbour said he believes there is nothing more powerful than praying.
"When we see a disaster, as followers of Jesus, its our job to step up and do something about it, whether its prayer, donating medical supplies, doing whatever we can. So tonight,l we are just rallying together as believers in a community in Wilmington, saying what can we do, and at the top of that list is pray."
Lifepoint Church is a designated drop off point for medical supplies. They will be collecting materials until January 24.
