BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) - A rash of vandalism and theft has hit the Lanvale Trace Subdivision in Leland, but now authorities say they have found one of the stolen vehicles - charred.
Heather Stevenson discovered her SUV had been stolen from her driveway Wednesday morning. A day later, Leland Police told her they found the vehicle, but it was completely burned.
String of vandalism hits Leland neighborhood
Authorities found two child car seats that had been removed from the SUV before it was set on fire. They will fingerprint the seat in hopes of finding the person(s) responsible for the theft.
According to the Leland Police Chief, there have been six incidents recently reported in the Leland neighborhood. Some cars have been vandalized, others have been stolen.
