Man arrested for operating meth lab in Brunswick County

CALABASH, NC (WECT) - One man is in jail and more arrests are expected in a meth lab bust in Brunswick County.

An informant lead detectives to arrest 23-year-old Robert Lee Moss, II at a home on Wilson Avenue in Calabash shortly before 4:00 Wednesday afternoon.

Detectives say they received several complaints from the community and within just 3 days they were able to make an arrest.

Investigators with the Brunswick County Sheriff's Office and the SBI searched Moss' house and found evidence of a meth lab and marijuana inside.

Moss was charged with:

  • one count of manufacturing methamphetamine
  • one count of possession with intent to manufacture, sell, and deliver methamphetamine
  • one count of maintaining a dwelling

A company contracted by the state started removing the hazardous chemicals around 8:00 p.m.

The Brunswick County Sheriff's Office says the neighborhood is completely safe.
