NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) - A woman accused of hiding her mother's corpse in the family's home for seven months is now facing more charges.

New Hanover County detectives have determined Amy Blanche Stewart was concealing her mother's death in order to receive monetary benefits.

During the period from July 2009 to December 2009, Amy Stewart deposited approximately $8315 in benefits from Social Security and Annuity Retirement benefits.

According to authorities, Stewart will be charged with two counts of obtaining property by false pretense, which is a Class I Felony.  She was charged in December for concealment of death.

Someone called officials in December reporting Blanche Roth was unconscious inside her home on Cherry Laurel Court in Wilmington.  Detectives say the 87-year-old woman died sometime in the spring of 2009.

District Attorney Ben David said five people were living in the home with the decaying body.  He says anyone who knew about the death can be charged with a misdemeanor for concealment of death.
