Free vaccinations during National Influenza Vaccination Week

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - The New Hanover County Health Department will begin taking walk-in patients for both seasonal flu and H1N1 vaccinations as part of National Influenza Vaccination week.

The number of people who get vaccinated for the flu typically drops off after the holidays, but with the spike of the H1N1 virus it is important that everyone get vaccinated.

There is no charge for the vaccinations at the NHC Health Department, but you will need your identification and any insurance information.

There will also be 360 free vaccines available to the public on a first come, first serve basis at Miller Motte College Tuesday.

The clinic is honor of Allyson Blackstone, a 22-year-old student who died in November due to complications caused by the H1N1 virus.

The clinic will take place behind the school's cosmetology building on Market Street from 9:00 AM until noon.
