WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - An arrest has been made in a police chase that woke up neighbors in parts of Wilmington and New Hanover County early Tuesday morning.

Johnnie Shingler is in the New Hanover County Jail and charged with felony speeding to elude arrest, driving without a license and failure to display a license plate.

According to the Wilmington Police Department, officers pulled over a driver at Wright and 16th Streets.  They say the car did not have tags.

Police say Shingler fled the scene and jumped out of his car at Trombay Court, near Monkey Junction.  Police say he ran from there.

State Highway Patrol Troopers also responded and ultimately made the arrest.
