WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - A strange odor caused a Wilmington apartment complex to evacuate for several hours Monday night.

911 dispatch operators say residents of the Pines of Wilmington Apartments notified authorities of an unusual odor just before 9:00 p.m.

Investigators believe the foul smell was the result of mixing cleaning products together.

Two people were treated for inhaling the fumes, and are expected to be okay.
