NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) - An organization that helps spay and neuter feral cats is facing some financial trouble.
Volunteers with Friends of Felines say they have run out of grant funding from corporations. At one point in October, the non-profit had less than $500.
"We have to buy the supplies," said Jane O'Brien with Friends of Felines. "These vets cannot do this for nothing. It averages about $35 a cat."
The organization say they are at an all-time low for active volunteers to help the cats. They are asking for volunteers who have as little as two hours a month to go toward the cause.
