SURF CITY, NC (WECT) - For the 8th year in a row, thousands of people will jump into the ocean January 1, as part of the annual Dolphin Dip Extravaganza.
There is still a few days to register, so don't get left out in the cold. If you don't want to take the brisk dip in the ocean, you can sponsor a friend. All proceeds benefit the Lower Cape Fear Hospice.
This year, there will be prizes awarded to the top 3 costumes, but you must "do the dip" to be eligible.
The Dolphin Dip will take place January 1 at Roland Ave. Beach Access in Surf City. Click here to view a map.
All participants need to show up at 11:00 a.m., and the swim begins at noon.
