New FAA regulations to go into effect in Spring

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - The FAA is setting new regulations in regards to flights that are delayed.

Starting this spring, if an airplane is stuck on the tarmac for three or more hours the plane must go back to the gate, unless it's a safety or congestion problem.

If the plane doesn't go back to the gate, then the airline could be fined more than $25,000 per passenger.

Also beginning in April, if a plane is in the air for more than two hours, the airline must provide food, water, and clean restrooms.
