WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – Flaming Amy's Burrito Barn is raising money to help an employee and his son through a tragedy.

Oscar Martinez is a cook at the burrito restaurant.  His girlfriend, Katalin Parker, died December 18th while giving birth to their son, Benjamin.

Flaming Amy's employees are now collecting donations to go towards a trust fund for Benjamin.  So far they have raised more than $10,000.  They are also collecting diapers and other baby supplies.

"It's been really wonderful," said employee Melanie Elliott.  "Everyone has been so supportive and I just can't thank everyone enough for being so supportive of everything that we're doing for them."

Baby Benjamin has a clean bill of health.

If you would like to donate to the trust fund, you can drop off any money or supplies at the Flaming Amy's Restaurant on Oleander Drive in Wilmington.
