PENDER COUNTY, NC (WECT) - State leaders will decide in January if a public boat ramp will be built in Hampstead.
The proposed site is less than seven acres and is located on Lewis Road near the Intracoastal waterway.
If the state approves, the project will be paid for with a nearly $3 million state grant and the Wildlife commission will own and design the property.
Gov. Bev Perdue and her council of state will decide whether to acquire the land Jan. 12.
The boat ramp would open to the public some time in 2011.
