Detectives identify body found in State Park

Posted by Doug Wahl - email

NEW HANOVER, NC (WECT) - Detectives for the New Hanover County Sheriff Office have identified the body found last week in Carolina Beach State Park.

Authorities say the remains were those of 26-year-old Joshua Bryant Hines of Greenville, NC.

Deputies responded to the State Park after the body was discovered Thursday in a wooded area just beyond designated camp sites. The next day the body was sent to Chapel Hill for an autopsy.

The preliminary results of that autopsy found no signs of trauma. Still the cause of death remains unknown.  The Sheriff's Office has not ruled out foul play at this time.
