MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WECT) - A woman is facing child cruelty charges after leaving her grandson in the car while she was shopping.

It happened at the Coastal Grand Mall in Myrtle Beach over the weekend.  The accused, Dyna Gore Johnston, is from Tabor City.

A mall security officer noticed a three-year-old alone inside Johnston's car in the parking lot.  Police say they paged Johnston over the mall intercom and she returned about twenty minutes later.

Police say Johnston told them she left her grandson in the car because he was sleeping and she didn't want to wake him.
