WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC (WECT) - Saturday morning's gray and cold weather didn't scare off racers from the 1st annual Jingle Bell Run.
About 150 joggers took off around the Wrightsville Beach loop dressed for the cold and the holidays. Every runner had bells tied to their laces.
The event benefited the Wrightsville Beach Museum of History.
Organizers hope to raise money for the museum and start a new tradition.
The museum is inside the Meyer's cottage and is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year.
David Cignotti, the Jingle Bell Run Committee Chair, says "It's the first historic building that we had moved here and we have two. We have this building and the Chamber of Commerce building behind me and hopefully we'll have two more in the future and have a little historic square here to preserve some of Wrightsville Beach's history."
Nolan Toby of Wilmington and Alice Kassens of Virginia were the men's and women's overall winners, with times of 18:10 and 19:26 respectively.
