WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - A single mother and her four children will move into a brand new home in time for the holidays, thanks to the help of about 300 women.
Habitat for Humanity sponsored a women build campaign and dozens came out for the cause.
After breaking ground in August, the women worked together for four months to build a home for Cristina Huerta and her children.
Sunday, the women involved joined Habitat for Humanity to bless and dedicate the home and hand the keys to Huerta so she can move in.
Beth Panco, a "Women Build" leader says, "There was tremendous enthusiasm among all the women who were there and really very creative ideas, because not only were we building, helping to build this house, but we had to help raise funds for this house. We also had to help find people who would make contributions for this house. So, there was always excitement and chatter about what ideas we could do here, what we could do there, what would be a positive contribution to various things."
The Huerta family had to contribute 250 "sweat equity" hours of hard work on the house.
