NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) - The New Hanover County Chairman of the Alcoholic Beverage Commission is reportedly the highest paid ABC administrator in the state.
County leaders plan to continue researching the issue that could result in some type of legal action.
During the last commissioner's meeting, it was determined Billy Williams is paid more than $230,000 a year, and his son, Bradley, brings home $115,000 a year.
Newly appointed chairman, Jason Thompson is outraged with their salaries.
"My personal opinion is one member of the commission is that salaries are out of line for the scope of work, a lot of decisions made with poor judgement, and someone's got to be held accountable for it," said Thompson.
Williams was given the hefty raise because of good sales at New Hanover County stores.
Commissioners say they will now start meeting with the ABC board on a regular basis.
