WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Students from Bellamy Elementary are hosting a bone marrow donor drive.
The two-day event is in honor of a first grade student who was recently diagnosed with Leukemia. Fortunately she does not require a bone marrow transplant at this time.
The purpose of this project is to support the family and raise awareness about donating bone marrow, and increase the number of donors in the national registry.
The drive runs Tuesday from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and Wednesday from 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Both events are being held in the school's cafeteria.
