LELAND, NC (WECT) - A pastor in Leland will not be able to preach from the pulpit while facing sex charges.
James Johnson is charged with three counts of indecent liberty with a child, two counts of first degree sex offense of a child and one count of attempted first degree rape of a child. Johnson was arrested November 3rd.
According to the Brunswick County District Attorney's office, Pastor Johnson is no longer allowed to preach at his church. Johnson is allowed to attend services at the Olive Branch in Leland weekly, but can't have contact with anybody under the age of 18.
Johnson's attorney, Robert Epstein, has said Johnson maintains his innocence. Johnson is expected to go to trial as early as February.
