WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Christmas tree sales in Wilmington are doing well, despite the struggling economy.
Workers at the Cape Fear Optimist tree lot in front of K-Mart say they started out with 1,000 Christmas trees, but now only have 250 left. They expect the remaining trees to be sold before the holiday.
"It might be people are looking for cheaper trees," said employee Silvia Harker. "The price is cut some what, and time wise I guess people haven't had time to get into Christmas trees."
Workers at the Christmas tree lot in Hugh MacRae Park say business is also steady.
Proceeds from both Christmas tree lots go to the Boys and Girls Club in Lake Waccamaw and other charities.
