RALEIGH, NC (WECT) - The State Board of Elections met in Raleigh Thursday, to talk about several election protests, including the Fair Bluff mayoral race.
The board voted 4:1 to have a new mayoral election in Fair Bluff. They say it will take at least 75 days before the election could take place.
Incumbent Fair Bluff Mayor Randy Britt lost to Chris Scott by two votes in the November elections.
Britt, and some other Columbus County candidates, believe some residents voted in the incorrect towns.
Columbus County Board of Election member David McPherson said the board felt there was enough evidence presented that could change the outcome of the election, so it will now be reviewed by the state.
No charges will be filed in connection with the investigation.
