WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Several downtown Wilmington business owners are concerned over the newest location for the centralized taxi stand.

This weekend Wilmington official had another trial run of the stand on Front Street near Dock Street.

Police say the trial was a success, but some bar owners say closing down part of the street for cabs impacted their business.

According to Lt. Ed Pigford with the Wilmington Police Department, the taxis had plenty of room and were centrally located.

"Bar closing was a breeze as far as those people having any accessibility to the cabs," said Pigford.

He says the there is a definite need for a late night taxi stand in the downtown Wilmington area.

Police and downtown Wilmington officials will meet to discuss an official location of a taxi stand.
