BLADEN COUNTY, NC (WECT) - A woman from Bladen County was arrested after being accused of killing a man for $9.00.

26-year-old Belinda Gillepsie is facing charged with first degree murder of 49-year-old Michael Peterson.

According to an incident report, the shooting took place around 8:00 p.m. Dec. 2, outside a vacant home on Lightwood Knot Road in Kelly.

Authorities say Gillespie and Peterson were arguing over a $9.00 debt when Gillespie pulled out a handgun and shot Peterson in the chest.

Peterson's friends say he was a good guy who didn't deserve to killed, regardless of the amount of debt owed.

"I'll miss the guy because he and I were really close," said friend Charles Brown.  "It didn't have to happen, but some things happen - most people are reasonable.  I'm sad for [Peterson's death]."

Gillespie's next court appearance is Monday, December 7.

She was charged in August for assault with a deadly weapon in an unrelated incident.  Gillespie has a criminal record dating back to 2006.
