WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – The holiday spirit will spread to Wilmington this weekend with the Port City's annual holiday parade.

Area organizations and business will line Front Street Sunday evening and show off their hard work in hopes of winning an award for the best float.

Autumn Care of Myrtle Grove took first place in last year's parade and they're trying to out-do themselves this time around.

"Our staff volunteer their time to build the float, we start from scratch, they come out at night, they are here at lunch time, on their break time, so as you can see they are hard at work finishing up the last touches," said Sheila Davis, the admissions director for Autumn Care.

WECT's Frances Weller and Jon Evans will be hosting Sunday's parade on WECT Plus beginning at 5:30, but the parade starts along Front Street in downtown Wilmington at 5:10.
