Cell phone tower company agrees to cancel agreement with NHC schools

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - The location of a controversial AT&T cell phone tower could be changing.

New Hanover County schools had a contractual agreement with American Tower Corporation to build a cell phone tower behind Murrayville Middle School.  But, school board members voted Tuesday night to rescind the contract.

American Tower Corp. has agreed to cancel their contract with New Hanover County schools.

Parents were concerned with possible health risks that go along with the cell phone tower.

The school board's attorney said they company is looking at a new location.
