BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) - A parasailing passenger is filing a lawsuit against the company involved in a fatal accident that happened several months ago.

According to published reports, Robert Whitman of New Jersey, who was on a boat that was towing two parasailers who were killed, is filing suit against the company.

Whitman says his four young children, who were also onboard, suffered emotional distress from being tossed around in the high waves.  He said they feared they wouldn't make it back to shore.

Last month, family members of one of the women killed in the accident began trying to file a lawsuit against the company involved.

Joel Rhine, who is the attorney for the woman's family, said they are asking the US District Court in Wilmington for permission to file a state lawsuit against Ocean Isle Beach Watersports and North Carolina Watersports.

The family is asking the lawsuit be tried before the court considers the company's motion to limit or eliminate its liability in the deaths.

According to Rhine, the family just wants to prevent an accident like this from ever happening again.

The Coast Guard is continuing to investigate the accident.
