BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) - There is a new leader of the Brunswick County school board. Bud Thorson was elected chairman during the board's meeting Tuesday night. He takes over the position from fellow board member Shirley Babson, who held the job for the past two years.
Scott Milligan was elected Vice-Chair, replacing Charlie Miller.
The board received an update on the process for selecting a new superintendent to replace Dr. Katie McGee, whose contract is not being renewed. The school board is taking applications for the position until January 25th, 2010. They are also awaiting results of a survey of parents and employees, who were asked what they are looking for in a superintendent.
Those results are due by December 15th.
