Texting while driving becomes illegal on December 1st

Reported by Doug Wahl - email

If you have something to say by way of text message, you only have a few more days to do it while driving. Starting Tuesday, it will be illegal to text while driving in North Carolina.

A violation could land you a $100 fine plus court cost.

The law does not apply to Police officers, firefighters or ambulance operators.

More than a dozen states already have bans on texting while driving.

Violators would not be assessed driver's license or insurance points.
