New Hanover Co. accident flips car, sends three to hospital

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) - Three people were sent to the hospital Sunday evening after a trailer came loose from a truck and crossed into the opposite lane.

It happened shortly before 6:30 pm at the 4600 block of Highway 421 in New Hanover County.

According to state troopers, a pickup truck was hauling a trailer when the trailer came loose and crossed into the northbound lane of 421. An SUV carrying three people hit the trailer and then flipped. They were sent to the hospital with non life threatening injuries.

No word yet if the pick up truck driver will face charges.

    The Mississippi Highway Patrol is looking for a driver who ran away from the scene of a deadly crash in George County. Three children were killed in the crash. Troopers said a green 2003 Kia Optima was heading east on Highway 198, east of Depot Road, shortly before 4 p.m. on Saturday.
