WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - A local Cub Scout pack is helping those in need of some warmth this holiday season.

Pack 702 sponsored the 4th annual Cozy Coats project at Hugh McRae Park Saturday.

Members of the community dropped off new and used coats. Those coats will benefit folks at the Good Shepherd Center, First and Families, and the domestic violence shelter.

As of noon time, around 400 coats had been collected. Over 1,000 coats have been donated over the past three years.

Holly Cunningham, the leader of Cub Scout pack 702 says, "They work really hard to do good deeds. We feel very fortunate to give back to our community. We are really fortunate this year that we were able to bring it out to the park and try to involve as many people as we could, so we can give more coats."

Cub Scout pack 702 is still accepting coats. If you'd like to drop off a new or used coat, contact the Boy Scouts office on Longstreet Drive in Wilmington.
