D.A. David pulls out of running for U.S. Attorney post

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Ben David, the District Attorney for the 5th District of North Carolina, announced Wednesday morning he is withdrawing his name for consideration for the U.S. Attorney post in the Eastern District of North Carolina.

Instead, David says he will run for re-election for his District Attorney position next year.  The 5th District covers New Hanover and Pender Counties.

United States Senator Kay Hagan (D-NC) placed David's name in consideration for the job earlier this year along with two other people.

David says he has both personal and professional reasons for withdrawing his name from consideration, including his desire to do several projects as District Attorney in the coming years.
