WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Students at Cape Fear Community College practiced survival skills Tuesday afternoon.

Marine technology students had class suited up in neoprene to practice an emergency boat situation in the Cape Fear River.

Even in warm water, you won't last long without this type of gear if you fall overboard.

"There aren't any other community colleges I'm aware of that have an ocean-going element, so they would be highly unlikely to have anything at all like this," said marine superintendent Peter Simpson.

CFCC's Marine Technology Program has been graduating students for about forty years.
