BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) - Several Brunswick County groups are making sure needy families have food on the table for Thanksgiving day.
Supplies at the food pantry at Victory Free Will Baptist Church in Leland are getting low.
That's why North Brunswick for Community Action is teaming up with Manna Ministries for a food drive.
They are collecting non perishable goods and cash donations, which they will use to buy meat for their freezer.
Jay Merritt, the pastor of Trinity Church, said in these tough economic times families are looking out for themselves. He said even those who have little to give can try to do something for those who don't have anything.
"We have 21 people in attendance in our little church," said Pastor Jay Merritt. "We have a grand total of three people who have steady income within our church. If it wasn't for the help of the community, and all the other people who see the need, we couldn't do it."
Food donations can be dropped off at the Belville Town Hall during business hours this week, at Victory Church on Saturday morning.
