WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Heavy rain from the remnants of Tropical Storm Ida dumped on the coast Wednesday, causing flooding in some areas.

Bladen, Columbus and Pender Counties have seen the most rain, with as much as 7 to 8 inches reported in parts of coastal Pender County. New Hanover County has also seen rainfall amounts from 3.5 to 5 inches. Some rainfall totals can be seen here.

Workers with the City of Wilmington have been out since Monday removing leaves and debris from drains across the area in preparation for the rain.

Their work paid off in at least one flood-prone area, as the New Centre Drive corridor was able to escape the water build up.  Some drains in business parking lots, however, were clogged, contributing to ponding in the lots.

In the case that there is flooding in that area, barricades are ready at either end of New Centre Drive.

Some other areas in Pender County were not as lucky and are facing some road closures and delays.

The Flood Watch previously in effect has been dropped. However, a Wind Advisory remains in effect as the coastal low moves north.  Click here for information on how to prepare for a flood.
