WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - UNCW will, once again, offer free H1N1 vaccinations for students Friday in the Burney Center.  Students must present their student ID card to receive the shot or nasal mist.

Last week the university vaccinated around 1,000 students, but unfortunately for about 400 students, the vaccine didn't arrive soon enough.  The campus had a major outbreak earlier this fall, before the vaccinations were ready.

Students who saw their friends with the virus say the experience was enough to motivate them to take a few minutes between classes to get a shot or spray the mist.

"My suite mate actually got it, and she had to go home," said freshman Kacy Miller.  "She was really sick.  We were all afraid of getting it, so we had to wipe down everything and clean everything.  So it was kind of scary."

The university encouraged students 25 years of age or younger to receive the vaccine, as they fall into a high-risk group for the H1N1 virus.
