Police seek suspects in brutal beating

Posted by Lauren Thomson - email

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) - Wilmington Police Department investigators are looking for help to find four people accused of assaulting two employees of a local Walmart store.

The attack happened on May 25, 2009 at the store on Sigmon Road, off Market Street.

Videotapes and still photos captured images of the suspects.

The attack occurred after two men and two women were seen shoplifting inside the store.

Two of the store's loss prevention officers, both males ages 31 and 56, tried to stop the thieves.

The younger employee was assaulted by the suspects, who punched and kicked him hard enough to cause serious injuries.

The victim is still recovering from a broken eardrum, and he has not been able to return to work.

Police are asking anyone who may be able to recognize the suspects in the pictures to call Detective Paul Verzaal at 910-343-3921.
