WILMINGTON, NC (WECT/AP) - Wilmington Food Lion stores have pulled some of the beef off their shelves because of a possible E. Coli contamination.
The meat came from Fairbank Farms but had the Food Lion label on it with a sell by date of September 21 to October 8. If you have the meat stored in your freezer, return it to Food Lion for a full refund.
Fairbank Farms recalled almost 546,000 pounds of fresh ground beef that may be tainted. The meat was distributed in September to stores from Virginia to Maine.
A federal health official says two deaths and 26 others illnesses may be linked to the possibly contaminated beef.
