Police search for man accused of robbing a bank

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - The Wilmington Police Department is searching for a man accused of robbing the Bank of America at the intersection of Oleander and Independence Tuesday morning.

Witnesses told police a man approached a teller and showed a note announcing a robbery. The man implied he had a weapon, but none was shown.

Authorities describe the robber as a white man in his 40s or 50s, standing about 5'7" and weighing 170 pounds.  At the time of the robbery he was wearing blue jeans, a red or burgundy lightweight jacket, and a Panama-style hat with a print band.  The man had a beard and moustache and was wearing eyeglasses with large frames.
