WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Wilmington City Council has decided to wait until 2010 to move ahead with plans to build a hotel with the new convention center in downtown Wilmington.
During a briefing Monday morning, council members agreed to wait until the New Year to solicit bids for a hotel.
The city had a deal to build a Hotel Indigo next to the convention center, but that deal was terminated when the developer, Wilmington River Group, could not meet the city's request for financing.
The convention center is expected to open in the fall of 2010.
